Thunderstorms in Italy and the Balkans


Thursday
Low pressure is centred over eastern Europe on Thursday, with high pressure over northern Scandinavia. A few showers and feeling cool in the north of Spain and Portugal, but plenty of sunshine and warm in the south. Unsettled for central and southern Europe, with heavy showers and longer spells of thundery rain in Italy, Switzerland, Austria and southern Germany. The Balkan states also see periods of heavy rain, also extending into western Greece. The Greek Islands are warm but with thunderstorms breaking out. Heavy rain also extends through the Czech Republic, southern Poland and Ukraine. Fewer showers and hot in Turkey. Sunshine and showers for France and the Low Countries. Bright, breezy and quite cool in Denmark and northern Germany. Dry and sunny in Norway and Sweden, although breezy around Baltic coasts. Finland may see showery rain and is also windy.

Low pressure continues dominate southern and eastern Europe, with higher pressure to the north-west. Sunshine and showers in northern Spain, but staying hot and sunny in the south of Spain and Portugal. Heavy rain and thunderstorms in Italy, with further showers in the Balkan states and Greece. Heavy rain affects Romania and Bulgaria. Heavy thundery rain also for Turkey. Sunshine and a scattering of showers for France and Belgium. The Netherlands and Germany will see sunny spells. Swizterland and Austria may catch a few thunderstorms, mostly in the south. Dry with sunshine in Poland and the Czech Republic. Breezy with showers in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic states. Dry with sunny spells for Norway.
