Central Europe becoming wet
Sunday
A cold front spreads south-eastwards across France and northern Spain on Sunday producing an area of thundery rain. However, it remains hot and sunny again in southern Spain. Thunderstorms also break out for northern Italy and the Alpine states, whilst southern Italy remains dry and hot. A few thundery showers for the Balkans, although Greece and Turkey are largely dry and hot. Rain also affects Belgium, the Netherlands and western parts of Germany, with some thundery bursts. High temperatures affect eastern Germany, Poland and eastern Europe, with highs topping 30C. Sweden and Finland are also into the mid-high 20s Celsius. Rain affects western Norway and there is a risk of thunderstorms later in Denmark and southern Sweden. Eastern Europe, Russia and Finland and largely dry and warm, with the odd afternoon storm.
Monday
An unsettled day across central Europe on Monday with an active cold front bringing heavy spells of rain. Heavy downpours are likely in eastern Spain, whilst central and western areas of Spain and also Portugal should stay dry and warm. Breezy in Portugal. Thunderstorms affect the Balearics but most of the Mediterranean stays fine and warm, with lengthy spells of sunshine for southern Italy, Greece and Turkey. Northern Italy, plus south-eastern France, Switzerland and Austria will see heavy rain and thunderstorms. Heavy thundery rain also affects Germany. Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark will see sunny spells and a few heavy showers in the afternoon. Staying hot in eastern Europe, highs in the low to mid 30s Celsius, with sunshine and a scattering of afternoon storms. Heavy thundery rain in Norway and southern Sweden. Warm temperatures again for Sweden and Finland.
