Thundery rain for central Europe
Sunday
A warm and dry day in the south of Spain and Portugal, although there may be a fair amount of cloud at first. Northern Spain and the Pyrenees may see some thundery showers. A few showers for the Balearics too. An unsettled day to come for France with heavy rain and thunderstorms giving the potential for torrential bursts and also hail, particularly southern France, the Alps and into Switzerland by afternoon. Alpine regions of northern Italy may also catch some thunderstorms, but central and southern Italy is fine with hot sunshine. A scattering of thundery showers for Greece and Turkey, but also plenty of warm sunshine. Belgium and the Netherlands are prone to some thunderstorms. A hot day in Germany, particularly in the east, although it is generally dry, before thundery rain affects the south later. Heavy showers also move into Austria. Warm in Scandinavia and eastern Europe, with sunshine and a scattering of thunderstorms in areas around the Baltic Sea.
Monday
Thunderstorms extend into western Germany in the early hours of Monday as an area of low pressure becomes more organised across central Europe. Eastern France, central and southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria and northern Italy are expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms through the course of the day. Dry, hot and sunny for Spain and Portugal with high pressure bringing fairer conditions for western France also. Eastern Europe is hot, with sunshine for Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. Showers encroach into the Balkan states. High pressure is situated over Scandinavia, with warm sunshine for Norway, Sweden and Finland although there will be a brisk easterly breeze around the southern Baltic Sea.
