Thunderstorms for Greece and Turkey
Friday
Rain affects most of Spain and Portugal on Friday, some heavy and perhaps thundery bursts from time to time. Least rain toward the eastern coast of Spain, although a few showers may spread from the west. Mostly dry for the Balearics, Corsica and Sardinia, although expect a few scattered showers. Fair with sunshine in Italy and the Balkan states, just isolated showers. Showers for Greece, but merging into longer spells of heavy rain and thunderstorms for the Greek Islands and western Turkey. Thundery rain may also extend toward Cyprus. A few showers in Romania, and particularly showery in Bulgaria. A wet day for France as fronts spread slowly eastwards, some heavy bursts. Rain extends into Belgium, and later the Netherlands. Dry overall in Germany, quite breezy with south-easterly winds. Rain approaches Switzerland later, turning to snow over the Alps. Dry for Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Eastern Europe is dry, but quite cloudy overall. A few showers for Denmark, and southern Norway and Sweden. Most of Scandinavia is dry under the influence of high pressure. Cold in the north and a few snow flurries.
Saturday
Low pressure continues to dominate western Europe, bringing widespread unsettled conditions. Frequent showers and longer spells of heavy rain in northern Spain and Portugal. Southern Spain dry and bright overall. Blustery showers for western France, drier in central areas. An area of heavy rain, and mountain snow, moves into the French Alps, Switzerland and northern Italy, bringing renewed concerns for flooding in this region. Southern Italy dry and bright. Rain affects Sardinia and Corsica, brighter for the Balearics. Sunshine for Greece, whilst thunderstorms become confined to southern Turkey and the eastern Mediterranean. Eastern Europe continues to see plenty of dry weather, although breezy in Poland. Rain encroaches into Germany, and patchy rain affects Belgium and the Netherlands, with a few showery bursts. Windy in Denmark, with a few showers. Light wintry showers in Norway and Sweden. Dry but cold in the far north.
