Thundery rain in the Mediterranean


Wednesday
Persistent, sometimes heavy rain will affect northern Spain on Wednesday, feeling cool with snow over higher areas. Patchy rain for northern Portugal, drier toward the south although cool and windy. Drier and brighter in southern Spain. Showers and clusters of heavy rain affects the Mediterranean islands, whilst rain is more persistent for western Italy. Eastern Italy is brighter, but further showers affect the Balkan coastline. Greece and Turkey will see sunny spells but a few clusters of thundery showers may affect the Aegean Sea. Rain for western and southern France, although drier toward the east and north. Cool anddry but generally cloudy for Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany Dry and cool too for the Alpine states and the Czech republic. Patchy drizzle and light snow for Poland, particularly in the north and east. A band of light to moderate snowfall affects the Baltic States and southern Sweden. Patchy snow in Norway. Dry and cold in northern Scandinavia.

Thursday
Cool and showery for Spain and Portugal on Thursday, most persistent toward northern areas, some snow again. Very unsettled in the western and central Mediterranean, with clusters of slow moving thundery downpours affecting the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia and southern Italy. Brighter and drier for Greece, whilst there should be plenty of warm sunshine for Turkey and Cyprus. Cloudy, cool and patchy rain for France. Occasional light snow for Switzerland and Austria. Essentially dry but chilly across Germany and the Low Countries. Cool with a little drizzle or light snow for Poland and the Czech Republic. Dry and very cold again for much of Scandinavia, although there will be patchy snow in southern regions of Norway and Sweden again.
