Staying cool central areas


Saturday
Low pressure west of Iberia brings heavy rain and gusty winds Portugal. Heavy showers in western Spain, but largely dry and warm further east. Also dry and fairly warm across Italy and the Balkans. Risk of some rain in western Greece. Very warm and sunny in Turkey. A few showers over the Swiss Alps. Breezy around the Biscay coast. Mainly dry for France, but cloudy and cool in the north and east. Patchy rain and drizzle across the Low Countries, northern Germany and Denmark. Central Europe remains chilly for October, highs just 7 to 10C. Thundery rain in south-eastern Poland and Slovakia. Around 12C in southern Sweden, although fairly cloudy, with some drizzly rain. Dry elsewhere across Scandinavia, but northern Norway is breezy and showery.

Sunday
Another unsettled day across western Spain and Portugal, with persistent heavy and thundery rain. Largely dry eastern Spain. The Mediterranean sees settled weather and a good amount of warm sunshine for Italy, Greece and Turkey. A band of thundery rain threatens southern France, although northern areas are dry, but staying quite cool. Temperatures improving a little, but central Europe remains on the cool side, with a lot of cloud cover across Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Patchy rain northern Germany and Poland. Dry and mild across south-eastern Europe, highs 15 to 20C in Hungary and Romania. High pressure brings dry conditions and light winds to Scandinavia, temperatures 9 to 12C.
