Very mild western Europe, cooler east

Friday
A large area of high pressure is situated over Scandinavia and eastern Europe, whilst low pressure is to the west of Britain. This promotes a generally mild or warm southerly pattern across much of the continent. Dry, warm and sunny for Spain and Portugal, although breezy in the north-west, where rain threatens the coast. Fair weather across the western Mediterranean. Heavy thundery rain persists across southern Italy, nudging into the far west of Greece. The Greek Islands and Turkey stay dry and breezy. A warm day across France, with hazy sunshine, and highs of 19 to 22C, warmest in the south-west. Dry and mild too across Belgium, the Netherlands & Germany, highs 15 to 18C. A little cooler for eastern Germany and Poland. Fine too across Alpine regions. Much of Scandinavia stays dry, but western Norway will see persistent rain and strong winds.

Saturday
Heavy rain moves into Portugal from the west in the early hours, gradually improving through the day, whilst rain spreads into western Spain. Warm and dry in eastern Spain and the Balearics. Thundery rain continues for the far south of Italy, also Sicily. One or two showers in southern Greece. It will be increasingly windy across the Aegean Sea into Turkey, although staying dry. Another very warm day for France, with plenty of sunshine. Mild and dry conditions continue for the Low Countries and Germany. Eastern Europe is a little cooler, at 12C in Poland and 15C in Hungary. High pressure remains a strong feature toward the east. The Baltic region is also dry and fairly mild, although some areas of cloud. Windy for Norway, and some rain in the north-west.
