Western Europe stays very mild

Wednesday
An unsettled day for Portugal and western Spain, with bursts of thundery rain spreading from the west early in the day, plus gusty winds. Drier and warmer for eastern Spain. A few thunderstorms in the western Mediterranean, particularly Corsica and Sardinia, which may spread to western Italy. However, most of Italy should stay dry. High pressure dominates central, east & south-eastern Europe, giving plenty of dry and bright weather. Warm sunshine for Greece and Turkey. A few showers across France, and some persistent rain or drizzle toward the north, also affecting the Low Countries, with widely grey skies. Largely dry for the Alps and Germany, staying very mild with broken cloud. Scandinavia is mainly dry too, but very dull southern areas, with low cloud and fog. Rain affects northern Norway. Brighter in Finland and northern Sweden, but expect a cool breeze.

Thursday
High pressure centred over eastern Europe brings lots of dry weather to Europe. A south to south-westerly flow keeps western areas very mild. Dry and warm for southern Spain and Portugal, but cooler and breezy in the north of Iberia, with a little rain in the far north-west. Scattered, mainly light showers for Italy. Dry and sunny for Greece and Turkey. Showers for Cyprus. Staying quite warm across France, highs 21C, with sunny spells. Thicker cloud toward Brittany. A good amount of sun too for Switzerland and Austria, also Hungary. Dry for Germany, although northern areas quite cloudy. Dull too in Poland, fairly cool at 9C. Patchy rain for Denmark and southern Norway. Much of northern Scandinavia and the Baltic region will be dry, if rather cloudy and cool.
