The indications are that conditions will remain very unsettled through the latter stages of February, with all parts of the country seeing very disturbed, often wet and windy weather. Becoming colder for a time with north to northwesterly winds, and some wintry weather for more northern areas of the country, especially over higher ground. As we move into the opening days of March, it is expected that a short spell of milder and quieter weather will establish across the south of the country, whilst the north remains more changeable. This unsettled weather extending south later.
With an area of high pressure re-establishing across the country during the middle stages of March, many areas of the country will become fine and settled. Temperatures will be below normal for a time across all areas. Thereafter, rising closer to or slightly above normal during the early part of March, especially across central and southern areas of England.
