This afternoon
Windy this afternoon, especially in the north with gales and gusts of 60 mph around western parts of Scotland. Heavy rain Scotland and north west England will move away to be replaced by some sunshine and occasional showers, some heavy with thunder. Here there is a risk of local flooding. Heavy rain too for Wales and the rain then spills south into much of central and southern England during the afternoon. Top temperatures of 6 to 9C for Scotland, 9 to 11C across England and Wales.
Overnight
Continued rather windy overnight. There will be some light rain lingering in the south of England this evening with further showers in the north and west. More general rain sweep into all but perhaps the extreme eastern parts of England and Scotland during the night. Gales are likely to redevelop in the west before morning. Lows of 5 to 11C.
Wednesday
It looks very windy and wet across most parts of the United Kingdom. Winds will be at gale force across the country with winds again near 60-70 mph in the north west. Expect outbreaks of rain for much of the day and the rain will be heavy across Scotland, northern England and Wales with a further risk of some localised flooding. Perhaps the far south of England and East Anglia could escape with a dry day. More rain to come for the north into the night. Quite mild with temperatures at 10 to 14C.
Thursday
Windy but quite as windy as Wednesday. From the Midlands southward it looks main dry toady with a good deal of cloud. To the north it's wet with more rain, this heavy again in places. With the already saturated ground there remains the risk of local flooding. Here the rain lingers into the evening and night. Staying mild with maximums of at 10 to 13C.
Friday
A belt of moderate rain is expected to lie across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England all day. To the south it's cloudy but mainly dry and mild though a few spots of rain are possible across Wales and The Midlands in the afternoon. The rain moves south tonight clearing Scotland. Maximums of at 8 to 12C but 4 to 5C in northern Scotland.
