Wednesday
Outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland will spread into western parts of Scotland, England and Wales this morning. To the east it's dry but rather dull and misty. Through the afternoon the rain in the west spreads east into all but East Anglia and south east England. This may be freezing across northern Scotland for awhile. Maximums of 3 to 5C for Scotland, 5 to 9C for Northern Ireland, England and Wales.
Wednesday Night
Rain clears Scotland, Northern Ireland and north west England this evening with a few coastal showers. Overnight it's cloudy and milder with sporadic outbreaks of rain though dry in the far south of England. Lows at 5 to 8C.
Thursday
There will be some patchy rain across western Scotland, Wales and The Midlands, otherwise dry this morning with lots of cloud. Bright and chiefly dry through the afternoon though some rain will linger across north west Scotland. Rain spills in across Northern Ireland in the evening then into all of western Britain overnight. Highs of 7 to 12C.
Friday
Very windy today with gales in the west. A dry morning for East Anglia and south east England but rain, heavy at times across the rest of the country this morning spreads to all areas in the afternoon. A wet, windy but mild night to come with gales and heavy spells of rain. Highs of 10 to 14C.
New Year's Eve
A windy morning with gales and rain in the east and heavy showers in the west. In the afternoon the rain clears away with some heavy showers for western Scotland. Less windy with sunnier spells for England and Wales. Mild with highs of 9 to 14C.
