Saturday
A very windy day to come across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England. The strongest winds will be through Northern Ireland this morning, with gusts to 70mph here. During the middle part of the morning the strongest winds will be transferring to southern Scotland and northern England with gusts to 80mph. It will be mid-afternoon before the winds ease. Mixed with the winds will be heavy showers, these falling as snow over the hills and merging to longer spells of sleet, snow and rain. To the south it will be a breezy day too. A damp morning for much of central and southern England, but then becoming brighter in the afternoon as the rain clears. Showers over the west and north of Wales. Feeling colder than of late, highs at 6 to 9C.
Saturday night
Breezy through this evening with an areas of showers or longer spells of rain cross England and Wales. There is a threat of the winds becoming very strong again, gusting to 60mph. Snow is likely on higher ground. Further showers affecting the west of Scotland and Ireland as well as western Wales, but more eastern parts of Scotland should be drier. Most areas away from western coasts will become drier later in the night. Icy in the north at 0C, nearer 2 to 3C through England and Wales.
Sunday
A colder day everywhere on Sunday. Show showers or a spell of more persistent snow affecting much of Scotland, although the far south may only see and odd snow flurry. There is a risk of a significant accumulation of snow over western mountains. Rain turning to sleet as it moves south through Ireland, and clouding up too in Wales and southern England ahead of rain here. The best of the sunshine on Sunday is expected in northeast England where it should be staying dry. Mild in the southwest at 9C, but only 3C in northern Scotland.
Monday
A widespread early frost on Monday. Eastern and northern Scotland will have snow showers. Wintry showers extending down the east coasts of England and penetrating through East Anglia and the southeast. To the west it should be much brighter with sunny spells, the best of these in Wales and western parts of Ireland. Temperatures at 2C in eastern Scotland, nearer 5C in southwest England and feeling chilly everywhere in the northeast wind.
