Tuesday
A cold day across the UK and Ireland. This morning sees a widespread frost through all areas, the first in some parts of England for over a month. Some good spells of sunshine, especially through the Midlands and parts of southwest England. However, thicker cloud through Scotland is going to producving some light snow, although drizzle and patchy rain seems more likely on western coasts of Scotland. Eastern coasts of England will be having a few snow showers, although many places dry. Snow showers a;lso across much of Wales, and parts of Ireland, although most will be light.Into this afternoon the snow showers in the east start to penetrate inland. They will become more persistent through East Anglia and the far southeast, with accumulations possible in places; Kent particularly affected. Snow flurries still across Wales, whilst much of western England will become cloudier but should be dry, apart from an odd flurry. For Ireland it will be cloudy with more outbreaks of sleety drizzle, similar in the west of Scotland. High temperatures at just 1 to 3C for most, perhaps 4C in central Ireland.

Tuesday night
Snow showers or longer periods of snow for much of eastern Scotland, eastern and southeast England overnight. Further accumulations of snow are likely, with ice becoming a problem as temperatures fall sharply. Further snow flurries in the north of Scotland too. Another area of rain and snow is expected to cross Ireland, then into Wales and southwest England during the night. This could bring several centimetres to parts of Wales and southwest England as well as eastern ireland by the end of the night, with temperatures falling quickly as skies clear. Elsewhere a cold night under clearer skies. A widespread severe frost with lows between -1 and -5C.
