Chilly but not so cold cross the country today. Patchy light rain and drizzle is expected across Wales, northern Scotland and southern England this morning. Snow is likely over the high ground of northern Scotland. Mainly dry elsewhere with some sunshine across northern England and southern Scotland. Apart from some patchy rain across Wales, Northern Ireland and north west England, it looks mainly dry and bright with varying cloud in the afternoon. Highs at 5 to 9C.
Overnight
Some light rain and drizzle will linger across northern and western Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the evening and night. Dry across England and Wales and where skies clear, a frost is likely. Lows of 3 to 6C but 0 to -2C in central areas.
Saturday
Cloudy and windy across Wales, northern England and western Scotland with drizzly morning rain, fine and dry elsewhere. In the afternoon the rain becomes confined to the north of Scotland with most places having a fine, sunnier and dry afternoon. Outbreaks of rain will spread south tonight into all but Wales and the far south of England. Highs of 7 to 10C.

A brisk north west winds will blow across northern and eastern parts of the United Kingdom. The best of the day's sunshine should be across south western parts of England today. Elsewhere expect a good deal of cloud and there will be some every patchy rain or drizzle for Wales, northern England and Scotland at times. Still some light rain to come in the north tonight, dry in the south with varying cloud. Patchy frost is possible in the south. Highs of 7 to 10C.
