Wednesday
Cloudy and windier across south west England and southern Wales with sporadic outbreaks of light rain, sleet and snow this morning. Little change is expected here throughout the afternoon. Apart from wintry showers around the northern and eastern coast of Scotland, it looks to be a dry, quite sunny day for the rest of the country but continued cold with a frosty morning. Any dense freezing fog patches may also be slow to clear from central and northern parts of England. High temperatures near 6C in Cornwall otherwise 3 to 5C for the bulk of the country.

Tonight
This evening it stays windy in the south west and as the rain turns heavier it will be changing to snow over Dartmoor and the Brecon Beacons. The remainder of the country is dry and clear with frost soon developing. Overnight there is a risk of significant snow across Northern Ireland, Wales, The Midlands into south east England. Lows at 0 to -6C.

Thursday
Outbreaks of locally heavy snow are possible across England and Wales this morning with The Midlands, Wales, northern England most at risk of a significant accumulation with rain in the far south. In the afternoon the main threat looks to shift into the north of England and southern Scotland. A drier night for England and Wales with a widespread frost and icy patches. Tops near 0 to 3C, 7C in the far south.

Friday
A cold day for England and Wales but dry. Expect a good of cloud with the best of the sunshine in the afternoon. There is a risk of snow across the western half of Scotland during the day otherwise dry and bright for eastern Scotland and Northern Ireland. As another area of rain moves into the south west this evening there is the potential for another spell of heavy snow for Northern Ireland, Wales and perhaps The Midlands overnight.
