Snow, heavy at times Freezing tonight seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
A band of snow covering a large part of Ireland, Wales, The Midlands and parts of southern England this morning. This could be heavy at times and accompanied by a strong wind. This could lead to blizzard conditions for some during this morning's rush hour. Up to 15cm of snow are possible in some places, more generally 2 to 10cm through Wales, The Midlands and parts of East Anglia and southern England. The snow slowly fading this afternoon. For southern England the snow will turn to rain as milder air approaches here. Across northern England and Northern Ireland, after a dry start, cloud increases and snow will be spreading from the south. This becoming more frequent. Over Scotland it will be a bright morning with sunny spells, and a few showers in the east. The winds will be increasing through the day, although apart from a few showers it should be dry. A cold day where the snow falls at just 2 or 3C, milder further south at 8C in southwest England.
Thursday night
Further snow to come across Northern Ireland, northern England and parts of southern Scotland this evening. This is going to be fading away slowly during the course of the night. Further south the skies are going to be clearing. Where this does occur temperatures will be falling quickly leading to icy roads and treacherous driving conditions. Coastal regions should stay milder. For the rest of Scotland it will be breezy. There may be a few showers along northern coasts, but generally dry and chilly. A bitterly cold night over the snowfields of central England at -10 or -12C, nearer -1 to -3C where the snow thaws.
Friday
A difficult one to forecast for. It does seem as if there will be some remnants of the snow band over the west of Scotland early on Friday. This is likely to clear away and then for most parts of should be a fair day with some sunny spells. A chilly day though with temperatures struggling to reach 2 to 3C for many, perhaps 8C in the far southwest.
Saturday
Saturday is causing real problems again. There is a risk of another area of significant snowfall affecting much of England, Wales and Ireland through the day. It is almost a repeat of Thursday situation and several centimetres of snow area possible. Strong winds with the snow. Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia are most at risk. Less snow in Scotland, although windy here, and rain in the southwest. Perhaps a quicker thaw through most of England and Wales later. Highs at 2 to 7C.
