Friday
Dry but very cold and very icy this morning across much of the United Kingdom with dense patches of freezing fog and sunny spells. The fog may linger all morning in parts of the Midlands, Wales and northern England. Later this morning rain will spread in across south west England and then into Wales in the afternoon, changing to snow across North Wales. Mainly dry for the remainder of England, western Scotland and Northern Ireland with snow showers expected across eastern Scotland. High temperatures near 10C in Cornwall otherwise most places will only see 2 to 4C.
Overnight
This evening expect moderate to heavy rain across south west England with some snow for parts of Wales into Northern Ireland. Light snow is also possible near the eastern coast of Scotland and north east England. Overnight there is a risk of snow across Wales, The Midlands, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. Rain is likely in the far south of England. Lows at 0 to -2C but 5 to 6C in the far south.
Saturday
Another bitterly cold day and there is the potential for further heavy snow across North Wales, The North Midlands into northern England through the day. Light snow is also possible across Scotland and Northern Ireland with rain in the far south of England tending to clear in the afternoon. While confidence is not high, it appears that the snow threat moves into Scotland tonight where it looks heavy with rain for the rest of the United Kingdom. Highs at 1 to 4C, 9C along the south coast.
Saturday
Not quite so cold but becoming windy across the country today with snow this morning across northern Scotland. Most other areas look wet with light rain giving way to heavier rain coming in from the west through the afternoon. Showers replace the rain in the west this evening then the rain clears the east by tonight. Highs of 4 to 11C north to south.
