Wednesday
Low pressure will be to the north of Scotland through the day. This is going to be bringing unsettled conditions to all parts of the UK and Ireland. This morning see Scotland having a band of rain pushing southwards, reaching Northern Ireland and northern parts of England. Following behind will be heavy, frequent and blustery showers. Widespread gales in the north. The afternoon sees further showers or rain for many parts of northern England, Ireland and Scotland with the winds to 70mph over parts of Scotland.
For southern England, southern Ireland and Wales the morning is going to be brighter away from western coasts, with some sunny spells. Wales, southwest England and the coasts of southern Ireland will have showers and these could be heavy. The afternoon sees more persistent rain moving into central Ireland, north Wales and the northern Midlands. Showers again through southern Ireland, west Wales, southwest and southern parts of England. Windy everywhere. Temperatures at 7 to 11C.
Wednesday night
Rain spreading through southern Ireland, southern Wales and the south of England tonight. The rain could be heavy at times, bringing a risk of localised flooding in places. Drier for the north Midlands and north Wales with the gales easing through northern England.
Evening gales across Scotland and further gusts in excess of 70mph as the showers turn increasingly wintry. Eventually the showers should start to fade away, with drier periods then for most. As the winds ease a frost will be forming in northern areas with ice on the roads and lows at 0 to 2C. Milder in the south due to the rain at 4 to 7C.
Thursday
Morning rain still troubling southern coasts of England, and again this could be heavy at times. Away from these areas the morning should be dry with sunny spells, although a chilly start. A few showers over northern and western parts of Scotland.
The afternoon sees little change with a few showers affecting the west coasts of Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Elsewhere it should be a pleasant afternoon with some good periods of sunshine, although it will be a much cooler day than recently. Highs around 5 to 9C.
Friday
Cloudier weather spreading from the west on Friday. This could bring some rain and drizzle to the west of Scotland and through Ireland. The cloud and drizzle extending into Wales and western England as well. For more eastern parts of the country the day should start dry with sunny spells. As the cloud increases the sunshine will be turning hazy. Temperatures around 7 to 12C.
