Severe gales in north Better to the west seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
A very windy morning to come across Scotland and much of northern England, with gusts of wind to 70mph. There will be frequent rain and showers too, mot of this affecting Scotland where it is going to be falling as snow, even at lower levels. Further south the morning should start dry and brighter with some sunny spells, although there will be showers for the western coasts of Wales, Ireland and along the Channel coasts of England.
This afternoon sees the showers slowly easing in the north as low pressure moves into the North Sea, and the winds should ease too. Brighter for western Scotland, Ireland and the rest of England and Wales with some sunny spells, although western coasts always prone to showers. A cooler day at just 4C in northern Scotland, but perhaps to 10C in the far southwest of England.
Thursday night
A ridge of high pressure is going to be building through during this evening and overnight. This will be bringing with it lighter winds and skies should become clear for many. A few showers could persist on western coasts of Scotland and Ireland, but for many it should be dry. A widespread frost away from western coasts. Lows near 0 to -2C typically.
Friday
The ridge of high pressure stays with us for most of Friday. It will be a bright but frosty start to the day. Little change is expected for much of the morning and afternoon over England, Scotland and Wales, with most places staying dry and bright, apart from a few showers on western coasts. Over Ireland cloud will be increasing in the afternoon with rain in the west, this rain probably reaching all areas by the evening. Highs around 5 to 10C.
Saturday
Rain clearing eastwards through Saturday morning, although there are indications that it may well linger through parts of East Anglia, the Midlands, southern England and Wales for much of the day. More northern areas should become drier and brighter with a few showers. Temperatures at a mild 8 to 12C and possible a very mild 14C in the southwest.
