Morning rain in east & south Brighter west seiten=4 abk=focus
Tuesday
England & Wales: A wet and windy start to the morning through much of England. Although the rain will be showery in nature, there will be some heavy bursts too. This rain will be edging eastwards with brighter weather already into northwest England and the western Midlands, mixed with a few showers. More rain to come over southern Ireland, and it may be that this tracks through England and then back into the Midlands around mid-morning. This afternoon sees it much brighter for all with sunny spells and showers, these heavy at times in the west. Highs at 8 to 12C.
Scotland & Ireland: Sunny spells and showers through this morning, most of the showers for western parts of Scotland and Ireland, where they could be heavy. More persistent rain could move back into southern Ireland early this morning, before clearing by mid-morning. Windy too. This afternoon sees further sunshine and showers, again most of these to the west. Tops near 6 to 9C.
Tuesday night
Showers continue through Scotland during the course of the night, especially affecting western and northern areas where some of them may be heavy at times. The showers through England and Wales should slowly fade away, with a dry night and clear skies for many. Over southwest Ireland and southwest Wales the cloud will be increasing again later, perhaps bringing rain to southern Ireland later. There could be a touch of ground frost through the Midlands and northern England with lows of 2 or 4C, more generally 5 to 7C in the west.
Wednesday
A chance of things turning wet and fair windy for the extreme south of Ireland and southwest England early on Wednesday as low pressure passes close by; the afternoon should become brighter and drier. For the rest of England and Wales, as well as eastern Ireland and eastern Scotland the day looks set to be mainly dry with some sunny spells, although an odd shower cannot be ruled out. Showers for the west and north of Scotland, although these should be scattered. Mild through southern England at 12C, but nearer 7C in northern Scotland.
Thursday
A ridge of high pressure looks set to bring a fair day to most of the UK and Ireland through Thursday. A touch of morning frost at first, especially through central and eastern areas, but this should soon clear away and then the day should be dry and fine with plenty of sunshine. Cloud will be increasing across Ireland and western Scotland in the morning, this then bringing rain by late morning, which could turn heavy in these areas in the afternoon. It may be raining in western England and west Wales by late afternoon too. Winds increasing in the west with gales in Ireland and western Scotland. A mild day at 7 to 14C.
