Rain into the north Gales, snow by Sunday seiten=4 abk=focus

Friday
It becomes windy across northern Britain today. An area of rain will move into Northern Ireland and Scotland during the morning with England and Wales fine and dry with sunny spells after early fog and frost clears. During the afternoon we'll see the rain reaching northern parts of England and Wales. Continued fair and dry across central and southern England with the best of the sunshine. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 14C

Overnight
Breezy into the evening with sporadic outbreaks of rain though staying mainly dry across East Anglia and the south east of England. Continued cloudy, breezy and damp for most places for the night with some rain though it will be very light and patchy across much of England and Wales. Lows at 5 to 9C.

Saturday
Rather windy today. A dry, bright morning to come for the south of England, East Anglia and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere cloudier with some light rain. By the afternoon much of England and Wales will have dried up as it turns sunnier and mild. More rain for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Rain then spreads south tonight and as the winds strengthen to gale force and switch around to the north, the rain turns to snow across Scotland and Northern Ireland with temporary blizzards possible. Highs of 10 to 15C.

Sunday
A bitterly cold and windy day with gales in the north. The cold northerly wind will bring snow showers south into much of the United Kingdom throughout the day. These will be heaviest across Scotland and northern England with temporary blizzard conditions and the snow will be drifting in the gusty winds. The showers will be interspersed with sunny intervals. During the evening and night the snow showers tend to become confined to northern Scotland and near western and eastern coasts. Highs of just 0 to 4C in the north rising to 7C in the south but with a biting wind chill.
