Cloudy, cool south Drier to the north seiten=4 abk=focus
Friday
Plenty of cloud around through England and Wales on Friday morning. There will be some patchy outbreaks of rain over much of eastern Wales and central and southern England. More persistent rain affecting the southern counties of England, and feeling cold here too. A few brief bright spells in northeast England, but generally here too it will be cloudy, together with much of Scotland and Ireland where cloud could be thick enough to produce a spot of rain.
This afternoon sees an odd brighter spell of England and Wales, but still lots of cloud here with a threat of an odd heavy shower breaking out across the Midlands and parts of Wales and the southern Pennines. More patchy drizzle further north into central Scotland, but coastal regions of Scotland may be brighter. A few showers over Ireland too, but the main story here is likely to be one of brightening conditions and a few sunny spells. Temperatures rising to around 9 to 14C.
Friday night
More cloud for much of England and Wales and becoming windier here as well. There will be some outbreaks of rain from the cloud, mostly over more southern areas. Further north it should be drier with the cloud breaking and some clear skies coming through. Much of Scotland will be dry through the night under clear skies and only light winds. Lows around 5 to 6C, but perhaps as low as 2C under the clearer skies in Scotland.
Saturday
A breezy day to come over much of England and Wales. There will be a fair amount of cloud around too, and this is likely to be producing some outbreaks of light rain. This should slowly fade away from most places in the morning, although it could linger over southern coasts. Western parts of Wales will be brighter with sunny spells here. For much of northern England, Scotland and Ireland the day is going to be dry and bright with some good spells of sunshine everywhere. Feeling chilly in the wind over central England at 10C, nearer 12 to 14C in western Scotland and Ireland.
Sunday
Once again high pressure is to the north of the country. This will be bringing more fine conditions to most places with plenty of sunshine too. There will be a breeze again to the south and this could be strong in places. Still a fair amount of cloud through England and eastern Wales, again with some patchy rain a possibility in the far south. Highs near 10 to 16C, with the warmest weather always to the west.
