Thursday
Asa cold front moves southwards through Scotland, colder air is being introduced into Orkney, Shetland and northern Scotland. There will be a few showers through the day in these areas, with these becoming wintry on the hills. The cold front bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain as it moves southwards through Scotland, eventually coming to a halt close to the Borders region. For much of England, Wales and Ireland the morning is going to be fine and sunny. It will be feeling warm in the south too. For this afternoon cloud will be increasing across northern England and Northern ireland with a threat of some showers rain breaking out in the northern parts of these areas. Elsewhere it should stay dry with more sunny spells. A wide range of temperatures with 6C in northern Scotland and 20C in southwest England.

Thursday night
A fair night for much of southern England and Wales under clear skies. More cloud affects northern England and Northern Ireland, with the low chance of a spot of drizzle over the Pennines. Over Scotland it will become increasingly breezy with rain spreading from the north. By the end of the night this will be into all parts of Scotland, with much colder air turning showers wintry through Shetland and Orkney. A touch of frost in parts of southern England at 0C, nearer 6C in Scotland.

Thursday
A change in conditions on Thursday. A band of rain, associated with a cold front moves through Northern Ireland and northern England. Much brighter but colder weather follows to Scotland bringing some snow showers to eastern Scotland. More southern parts of England remain dry with more sunshine. A large temperatures contrast north to south, with northern Scotland seeing 8C, but 21C over southern parts of England.

Friday
Frost for Scotland and parts of northern England overnight into Friday. Here the day is going to be one of variable cloud and some sunny spells. It will be staying cold through Scotland too. For much of Ireland, Wales and southern England the day will be generally dry, albeit with more cloud than recently. It will be mild again here at 20C, but just 8C in northern Scotland.
