Cloudy, cold & damp Heavy periods of rain seiten=4 abk=focus
Friday
A band of cloud and rain will be slow moving through the Midlands, Wales and northern parts of England this morning. Most of the rain is only going to be light, and this will be sinking slowly southwards during the course of the day. Southern and southeastern coasts of England should have a drier start to the day, with variable cloud and some sunny spells although a few showers could break out here later. For northern England and Ireland as well as southern Scotland it will become brighter through the morning, with sunny spells, and the sunshine extends into Wales in the afternoon. Showers will be affecting northwest Scotland and the coasts of Northern Ireland throughout. Still warm in the far southeast at 23C, but much cooler air following from the north with just 10C in northern Scotland.
Friday night
The rain may 'pep up' again over southeastern England tonight, although the rain is still likely to be light. Through much of the Midlands, Wales, southwest England and northern England it should be largely dry, with clear skies, although an odd shower cannot be ruled out on the coasts of Wales and northwest England. A higher risk of showers over the west and north coasts of Ireland and Scotland. Most of eastern and southern Scotland should stay dry. Lows near 1C under the clearer skies in sheltered parts of the Midlands, 9C in southeast England.
Saturday
Probably a fairly dull start in the far southeast, with outbreaks of mainly light rain; this clearing by mid-morning. Apart from an odd shower on the coasts, most of England and Wales are likely to be fair and dry. It won't be long before showers break out over Scotland and Ireland though. The afternoon sees a scattering of showers continuing across Scotland and Ireland, as well as northern England. A few for western Wales too, but for most of southern England it should be dry. Highs at 10 to 17C.
Sunday
Current indications are that Sunday could be a thoroughly miserable day. Low pressure dominates and this is going to be bringing a period of heavy rain through much of England and Wales. The rain may not clear many areas all day, although it will turn more showery through western England and Ireland, these showers heavy and thundery at times.Scotland will have showers for much of the day, and the showers will also be heavy and thundery. A strong northerly wind making it feel bitterly cold. If you are planning an outdoor activity you should be prepared for cold, wet, conditions. Temperatures around 10C in England and Wales, 12C over sheltered arts of western Scotland.
