Heavy, thundery rain Drier far north seiten=4 abk=focus

Sunday
Heavy, thundery rain is going to be troubling many of us through the course of a muggy Sunday. The focus of it is going to be through Wales and southwest England, running into parts of the Midlands through this morning. This will be leading to dangerous driving conditions on the roads with as much as 50mm of rain falling in a short space of time. For southeast England there will be hazy sunshine and chance of some spots of rain, but as the sun comes out it will be feeling very warm. This afternoon the rain affects most of Ireland, Wales and England, apart from the far southeast. Once again it could be heavy, especially through northern England. Over Scotland it is likely to be dry with some sunny spells. Temperatures rising to a hot 26C in the southeast when the sun comes through, nearer 17C in northern Scotland.

Sunday night
Tonight sees a band of rain passing through Northern Ireland and into southern Scotland before midnight, and then in central and northern Scotland by the morning. The rain should ease over northern England, eventually becoming dry here. A few showers for Wales and southern Ireland. In England a band of showery rain should move eastwards into East Anglia and the southeast, where it could be come very heavy and thundery. The rest of England should be drier with broken cloud, although always a risk of a shower in the southwest. Lows near a muggy 12 to 16C.

Monday
Rain for central and northern Scotland today, with very little change, so overall wet here. The south of Scotland should be brighter and drier with sunny spells, and this drier weather into northern England too. For Ireland there will be some drier weather around for most at first, but then heavy, thundery showers will be forming. Over central and much of southern England and Wales there will be some sunny spells at first, but here too the heavy showers will be forming. The worst of the weather will be in the far southeast, where heavy thundery rain in the morning will continue in the afternoon, perhaps bringing a risk of local flooding. Temperatures at 23C in the Midlands, 15C in northern Scotland.

Tuesday
A showery day to come for many of us on Tuesday. There will be cloud and some rain over northern and central parts of Scotland. Sunny spells and showers for Ireland, a few of them heavy. The far north of England may be dry with sunny spells, as will be southern Scotland. However, for the rest of England there will be sunshine in the morning, but then showers forming in the afternoon. The focus for the showers over Wales and western England with fewer to the southeast. A cooler day at 15 to 21C.
