A few showers today Heavy rain tomorrow seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
Some light and patchy rain this morning over southern parts of Scotland and the far north of England. This is going to be fading away. Although staying cloudy for most of southern Scotland, most of the afternoon should be drier, although still rather cloudy. For the far north of Scotland a few sunny spells may come through the cloud, with the best of these in Orkney and Shetland. For most of England, Wales and Ireland there will be plenty of dry weather in the morning, perhaps with some early mist patches. These will be slowly clearing to leave the morning generally dry, However, from late morning and into the early afternoon showers are likely to be developing. These will be fairly well scattered, but a few may be heavy, with the focus on the Home Counties, Wales , the Pennines and much of Ireland. Temperatures rising to 25C in the sunshine over southern England, nearer 14C on the coasts of northern Scotland.
Thursday night
An odd thunderstorm breaking out through the Midlands and northern England this evening, whilst most other areas become dry. However, cloud is going to be increasing in southern England with rain onto the south coast by midnight. During the early hours some bursts of heavy, thundery rain will reach the south coast, as the lighter rain moves into Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia. A few spots of rain may be triggered over the tops of the Scottish Hills, together with some showers for western Ireland. A cool night in the north with lows of 7C in central Scotland, milder to the south at 15C in southern England.
Friday
The potential for a very wet and unpleasant day over much of England and Wales on Friday. At the moment it looks like the heaviest rain will be through Wales and much of southern England south of Stoke-on-Trent on Friday morning. This whole area then moves northwards Friday afternoon to be into northern England, the Midlands and East Anglia, with another area of heavy, thundery rain over southern Ireland and southwest England, together with southern Wales. Over 25mm of rain may fall in some places and there is a risk of local flooding. For Scotland there will be broken cloud and some sunny spells, but overall the day should be dry. A cold day in southern England at just 15C for many.
Saturday
The rain lies through central and southern Scotland, northern England, Wales and eastern Ireland on Saturday, with little change here through the day. Over the far southeast of England conditions should be drier, although showers can't be ruled out even here. For Ireland expect plenty of cloud and periods of rain, mainly in the southeast, with showers to the west. A windy day through northern England and the Midlands, feeling unseasonably cold too. Temperatures at 12C in the rain, nearer 17C in southeast England and Ireland.
