Thursday
Rather a cloudy start to the morning over most of the country today. There could be a few spots of drizzle here and there over high ground, especially through northern England and southern Scotland. Mist and fog ptcahes may be quite dense at first too. However, these should be clearing away and then the morning is going to be a bright one for many, with some good spells of sunshine, albeit rather hazy. Little change is expected for the afternoon over most of England and Wales. For Scotland and Ireland the day will be starting bright and dry with good spells of sunshine. However, increasing winds will be bringing cloud and drizzle to the west and north of Scotland through the afternoon, this reaching the coasts of Northern Ireland. The rain may become heavy over Highland and the Western isles later in the afternoon as it becomes quite windy. Temperatures at 24C in the sunshine over southern England, nearer 16C in northwest Scotland.
Thursday night
As the winds increase the band of rain moves south through Scotland tonight. It will be heavy at times over the southern Uplands and the northern Pennines before mifnight, reaching central ireland by then too. At the same time, drier, but showery weather will be through northern and western Scotland, a few of the showers heavy on western coasts for a time. During the early hours of Friday morning the rain, by now mainly light, will be reaching northern England and Wales; fog forming on the hills. For most of southern England the night should be dry, with the skies being generally clear. Showers still affecting the coasts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Lows around 7C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
Friday
The band of light rain passes through Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia on Friday morning, before clearing southern and southeastern England in the afternoon. Drier, brighter weather follows to Wales and most of England, although a few showers are possible on western facing coasts. For Scotland and Northern ireland there may be some early showers on windward facing coasts, but generally the day will become dry with plemnty of sunshine. rather breezy in eastern Scotland. A much fresher day everywhere. Highs near 11C in northeast Scotland, 20C in southwest England.
Saturday
A fine day to come on Saturday for many. It will be a cold start to the day with a widespread ground frost, and perhaps even an air frost in northern England. The sun will come through quickly bringing fine conditions for many. Cloud is going to be increasing across western ireland and western Scotland later, perhaps bringing some rain by the evening here. Temperatures will be around 17C in western Scotland to 19C in southern England.
