Rain in the north Drier to the south seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
A fine and much cooler start to the day through much of England and southern Wales. Good spells of sunshine here, although feeling cooler than recently. It should stay dry into this afternoon as well with more sunshine, although this turning a little hazy. For the rest of Wales and northwest England there may be more in the way of cloud, and this may be thick enough to produce a spot of rain over the high ground of the Pennines. Northeast England and Northern Ireland as well as eastern Scotland should have broken cloud, and be dry with some sunny spells. Over western and northern Scotland cloud will be thickening, and the wind increasing to be near gale force in the north, bringing some outbreaks of rain through the day. Temperatures rising to around 8C over the higher ground of northern England, 12C in the far southwest.

Tuesday night
A breezy night for Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland. There will be some periods of rain slipping southwards through Scotland, with patchy, light rain over the high ground of southern Scotland and northern England. For the rest of England and Wales the night should be dry with mainly light to moderate winds and some clear spells. The breeze will be preventing the temperatures falling to low, with minimums of 6C over the Midlands, 11C in western Scotland.

Wednesday
A cloudier airmass probably covers the country on Wednesday. This will be bringing some more outbreaks of rain through Scotland, this heavy in the northwest at times. It is likely to be windy here as well. Some further spots of rain over northern England, and perhaps over the high ground of Wales and Ireland. For inland areas, away from the winds, the day should be rather cloudy, although cloud will be breaking. The best of the sunshine over southern England and temperatures at 10 to 14C.

Thursday
A generally more unsettled look to the day on Wednesday. It is likely to become windy over Scotland, northern England, and Ireland in the morning as a band of rain spreads southwards, followed by heavy showers and much colder air. The showers are likely to turn wintry over the hills of Scotland. By the afternoon the rain will pass through the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia before clearing southern England in the evening. Highs at 15C in the sunnier skies over southern England, but just 5C in northern Scotland.
