Rain in the north Drier to the south seiten=4 abk=focus
Thursday
A change in the weather through today. There will be severe gales in Scotland with a band of heavy rain moving south this morning, before followed by frequent, squally showers which may be wintry over the hills. The winds may well reach 70mph in exposed parts of the north and west, the strongest of the winds passing eastwards through the day. As the band of rain moves into northern England and Ireland through the morning, it will bring a short period of squally rain, followed by much cooler weather and showers. Increasing winds over southern England and Wales in the morning, with the band of rain moving quickly southwards through the afternoon, clearing the south coast by mid-afternoon. It will become brighter from the north, but staying windy with a risk of some showers. By the end of the day the focus will be on eastern coasts of England and Scotland for gale force winds, cloudier conditions and a risk of more persistent rain. Temperatures at 7C in central Scotland, 14C in southern England, but feeling cold everywhere.
Thursday night
A windy night ahead in the east, moderate to fresh winds in the west. There will be some showers around coasts at first, some penetrating inland. After midnight the showers probably become confined to north Wales, northwest England and Scotland, as well as East Anglia. Elsewhere skies becoming clearer and it should be dry. Temperatures will be held above freezing because of the strength of the wind with lows of 5 to 8C by the morning.
Friday
Showers again through northwest England, north Wales this morning, with further showers over western and northern Scotland. It will be a breezy morning too, especially along eastern coasts of England. Elsewhere it should be a dry and cold morning with sunny spells and mainly dry conditions. This afternoon sees cloud and rain spreading through Scotland, most of it light and patchy. For much of England and Wales it will be a dry afternoon with hazy sunshine. Best of the sunshine for southwest England and southern England. Temperatures at 8C in eastern Scotland, 12C in southwest England.
Saturday
A breezy and cool day to come through today. There will be plenty of cloud and drizzle or light rain over Scotland, northern England and the north of Ireland. Over Wales and southern England the cloud may break here and there with some bright or sunny spells over southern coasts, west of the Isle of Wight, and parts of the Midlands. A low risk of some more persistent rain trundling through East Anglia and the eastern Midlands. Temperatures at 10C in Scotland, 14C in southwest England.
