Tuesday
Some early morning rain affecting the far south of England at first today, but this should be clearing away. Many parts of the United Kingdom and Ireland are then going to have a mainly cloudy day. There will be some outbreaks of rain here and there during the course of the day. These are expected to be focused on northern coasts of Wales, northwest England and also western Scotland. Eastern coasts of England may be troubled by showers, a few of them making it into Scotland. Elsewhere a rather cloudy day throughout, with temperatures at just 7 to 9C through much of England, nearer 12C on western coasts. Fairly breezy everywhere in a moderate to fresh northwest wind.
Tuesday night
Little change this evening with showers affecting eastern coasts. Patchy rain over Wales and Northern Ireland, drier for the rest of Ireland, England and Wales, albeit cloudy. As the night progresses more persistent rain will be slipping into Scotland and northern England as well as the northern half of Ireland. More southern parts of England and Ireland should stay drier. Much colder over Shetland, Orkney and the far northeast of Scotland. Temperatures at 1C here, but nearer 9C over England and Wales.
Wednesday
A wet morning over much of England and Wales as an area of rain moves southwards. The rain only clearing southern coasts of England later in the afternoon. Following from the north are colder conditions once again. Plenty of cloud too, with showers on the eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Only limited brighter spells are likely in the afternoon, these probably confined to northwest England and southwest Scotland. Temperatures at 12C in southwest England, just 7C elsewhere.
Thursday
Another cold day on Thursday with brighter skies in the south. Morning fog and frost may well be widespread and there is a risk of the fog not clearing all day through parts of the Midlands, Wales and northern England. Southern Scotland may be foggy too throughout the day. Where the fog does lift there will be some breaks in the cloud, mainly through southern England. A cold day with temperatures at 6C in the fog, nearer 12C in western Scotland where the fog lifts.
