Wednesday
A lot of cloud across eastern parts of England and Scotland this morning with scattered showers. In the afternoon many of these die out as it brightens but still on the cloudy side. An area of rain and drizzle is expected to affect Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England with a few heavy bursts for west Wales. By the afternoon this area of rain will have pushed back west clearing Wales but lingering across Northern Ireland and the West Country. Inland parts of England and Scotland look mainly dry and bright with a 10% risk of a light shower. Temperatures will be near normal with highs of 8 to 11C for most areas.

Wednesday Night
Soon the last of the rain clears Northern Ireland and Cornwall early this evening as skies clear across the United Kingdom. With light winds and clear spells overnight a number of fog patches will develop across central and southern England. A colder night is expected with a widespread frost developing away from the coasts. Expect lows of -1 to 3C but 5 to 6C around the coasts.

Thursday
Apart from a few showers across the south east of England, high pressure will give most areas a settled, dry day. A cold , misty morning though with a frost and some locally dense fog patches may be slow to clear the Midlands and north east England, otherwise it's sunny. Continued fine with sunny spells into the afternoon away from the south east. Some patchy rain will edge into north west Scotland tonight. Another cold night for England and Wales with fog patches and a frost. Expect top temperatures of 6 to 8C for Scotland and 7 to 10C for England and Wales.

Friday
More cloud and breezy in the north west with light rain. More cloud too for north west England. The remainder of the United Kingdom will remain dry under high pressure. Again fog and frost will clear to hazy sunny spells. Tonight any frost will be across central and southern England with more cloud and patchy rain to the north. Maximum temperatures of 7 to 10C.
