Rain in the west Very unsettled on Sunday seiten=4 abk=focus

Saturday
Frost and some dense fog patches to start the day over much of southern and southeast England. These are going to be slow to clear, but once they have the day should be brighter with some sunny spells coming through. For much of the rest of England and Wales it will be a cool day with an increasing southwest wind. There will be some sunny spells, but by the evening the cloud may have thickened enough in northwest Wales to bring some spots of rain here. For Ireland and Scotland the winds will be picking up too, with the cloud increasing and bringing rain to northern and western Scotland and much of Ireland in the afternoon. Southern and eastern Scotland should stay drier with some sunny spells until the afternoon. Temperatures at 6 to 8C for many areas, nearer 12C in the far southwest of England and 11C in western Scotland.

Saturday night
The winds picking up through most of the country tonight, with some paces then windy. There will be some quite heavy rain moving into Ireland, Wales, northern and western England as well as Scotland before midnight. This rain transfers to all of England through the early hours, with many places then having a wet and windy end to the night. Over Ireland and western Scotland the more persistent rain should ease to showers later in the night, and the wind will be decreasing in speed as well. Lowest temperatures about 2C in southeast England at first on Saturday evening, but these increasing as the cloud, wind and rain arrive. More typical temperatures will be around 6 or 7C.

Sunday
Low pressure takes charge of the weather on Sunday, This will be pushing a band of rain eastwards through much of England in the morning, some of this heavy, but then clearing eastern coasts in the afternoon. Following from the west will be brighter weather, but with some showers over Wales and western England, some of them heavy and thundery in places. Eastern and northern Scotland could stay cloudy, cold and wet throughout the day. Frequent showers for western Scotland and much of Ireland, especially the west and feeling cold here. Highs at 10C in the far south of England, nearer 6C along northeastern coasts.

Monday
A touch of frost on Monday morning in more sheltered parts. Once this has cleared the day will be brighter in England and Wales, although still feeling chilly under variable cloud. A few sunny spells may break through the cloud. Thicker cloud across Scotland bringing some periods of rain, these persisting to the south. Northern Scotland should be drier and brighter. Windy in Scotland too. Temperatures at 7 to 10C at best.
