Thursday
A gusty and cold northerly wind will be blowing across Scotland today and this will spread south through the course of the day. For Scotland expect some heavy snow showers across The Highlands toady and a few wintry showers will affect the Southern Uplands as morning rain clears. Lots of cloud across Wales with a few showers in the west. An area of light rain will lie across northern England for much of the day with showers across south east and south west England. Largely dry across East Anglia and The Midlands with the best of any sunshine. Temperatures will below normal in the north with highs of 2 to 6C but up to 9 to 10C in the south.
Thursday Night
It stays quite breezy this evening and tonight as the cold air continues to move south. Patchy rain across central and southern England and Wales this evening clears all but Kent overnight. A few snow showers across eastern Scotland this evening will push down across The Pennines and North Wales overnight. A colder night with most places to see a frost by morning. Expect lows of -1 to -5C for Scotland, 0 to 2C across Wales and central England but up to 5C in the south east.
Friday
Cold and rather breezy across the country today. Scattered showers are likely around North Sea coasts. Elsewhere after a frosty start to the morning, it's a fair, dry and bright day to come with lots of crisp, wintry type sunshine. It becomes very windy as gales move into Scotland and Northern Ireland tonight and it becomes very wet here with rain, perhaps preceded by some snow over the Scottish hills. For England and Wales a very cold night with a widespread and hard frost developing inland. Maximum temperatures of 3 to 8C north to south.
Saturday
Very cold, frosty and sunny this morning for central and southern England. Elsewhere it's cloudy and wet with outbreaks of rain, heavy in the north west. This area of light rain then spreads south to all parts during the course of the afternoon. Continued damp into the evening and night for most areas though it should turn dry across Northern Ireland. Expect highs of 6 to 10C.
