Friday
Rather breezy and very cold across the United Kingdom today. Scattered showers will affect North Sea coasts this morning with a few snow showers possible across the Yorkshire Moors. The bulk of the country though looks dry and mostly sunny with patchy frost. In the afternoon there remains the chance of a few showers around the eastern coast of England otherwise it stays settled and dry with lots of crisp, wintry sunshine on offer. Temperatures will below normal in the north with highs of 2 to 5C but 5 to 7C in the south.
Friday Night
It becomes windy through the evening and night as a belt of rain spread into Northern Ireland and Scotland in the night. This will be preceded by snow over the hills of northern Scotland for a time. With clear skies and light winds, England and Wales turns very cold with a frost developing in the evening and this becomes widespread and hard overnight. Expect lows of -2 to -4C quite widely but temperatures increasingly across Northern Ireland and Scotland during the night with southerly gales developing.
Saturday
Very cold, frosty and sunny this morning for central and southern England. Elsewhere it's cloudy and wet with outbreaks of rain, heavy in the north west. This area of light rain then spreads south to all parts during the course of the afternoon. Continued damp into the evening for most areas though it should turn dry overnight. As it turns cold snow showers will affect northern Scotland. Expect highs of 6 to 10C north to south.
Sunday
As the winds switch to the north, it turns cold again today with rain showers running down North Sea coasts on a brisk north wind. For the remainder of the United Kingdom it is a dry, bright day to come with lots of sunshine. Rain, perhaps freezing at first spreads into northern Scotland this evening and tonight. Dry, clear and cold with a widespread frost across England and Wales overnight. Expect highs of 3 to 8C north to south.
