Wednesday
A cloudy start to Wednesday for much of the country. There will be some drizzle affecting the west coasts of England and Wales as well as northern England, whilst most other parts of the area should be dry, although rather misty. As the morning progresses a few bright spells may come through over parts of the Midlands and southern England. For Ireland and Scotland and band of cloud and rain will be moving eastwards, some of this becoming heavy over Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland.
This afternoon sees the rain affecting pretty well the whole of Scotland. It will have moved into the west and north of Wales too, as well as northern England. For the rest of England and Wales the day will be breezy, but dry for many with plenty of cloud, although always a tendency for some drizzle on the high ground of more western areas. Fog may shroud hills here too. Temperatures rising to 14C in southern England, nearer 8C where colder air penetrates into northern Scotland.
Wednesday night
The band of rain slips through northern England and into the Midlands and southwest England this evening. Southeast England staying dry until the early hours of the morning, by which time the rain will arrive. At the same time another area of rain will be moving through Scotland and into Ireland, this becoming heavy. The rain also through southern Ireland and into Wales by the morning, turning heavy in places. It will be staying windy as well. Low temperatures at 8C in the far south of England, more typically 3 to 5C.
Thursday
Rain spreads into southern England in the early morning. It could be that the rain lingers well into the afternoon along southern coastal counties. For the rest of England and Wales it should be brighter with some sunny spells, although a few showers on the coasts. Thicker cloud and stronger winds over Scotland as a band of cloud pushes southwards, some of the rain heavy at times and feeling cold in Scotland too in a strong northwest wind. later in the day cloud increases over Ireland, making the sunshine hazy here. Temperatures at 7 to 10C.
Friday
An unsettled day to come through Friday. A brisk southwest wind will be bringing plenty of rain and cloud over England and Wales. The rain could be heavy in western Wales and northern England, this rain spreading east in the afternoon. Brighter, cooler weather following through Ireland and Scotland in the morning, reaching northern England and Wales in the afternoon. Heavy showers will be following in with the brighter weather too. Temperatures at 7C in Scotland, 14C in southwest England.
