A much colder day Risk of snow tomorrow seiten=4 abk=focus
Wednesday
A windy, cold and cloudy start to the day for many parts of the UK and Ireland. There will be some drizzle affecting the high ground of Wales and northern England, with a risk of more prolonged rain over eastern Scotland. It is going to be feeling much colder than recently. With a fresh to strong southeast wind blowing. There may be a few brighter spells developing in the cloud, especially through central southern England. The afternoon sees these brighter spells extend through much of central southern England and into the Midlands and parts of Wales. Rain could affect the Scilly Isles and far southwest of Cornwall, whilst the rain in eastern Scotland turns increasingly to snow, perhaps bringing blizzard like conditions to the eastern Highlands and Grampians. A very cold day everywhere, and staying windy. High temperatures at just 3 to 4C for many, nearer 7C in Cornwall.
Wednesday Night
It stays windy tonight and remains cold. During the evening rain will be through southern Ireland and the far southwest of England, with the snow slow easing over eastern Scotland. Elsewhere dry and rather cloudy, although some clearer skies across the Midlands and eastern Wales. The second half of the night sees rain creeping east through southwest England and turning to snow as it reaches Somerset, Dorset and the high ground of Devon. Most of it should be light though. We will also find snow flurries drifting onto eastern coasts of England, bringing a covering to parts of the Pennines and North York Moors by morning. The best of the clearer skies then through western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Lows near 0 to -1C by the morning.
Thursday
Another bitterly cold day for Thursday in a fresh to strong east wind, which could reach gale force in the southwest. This will bring an area of sleet and snow to southern England, this running through the Midlands and eastern Wales in the afternoon. Coverings of snow are only expected to be light. More snow flurries for East Anglia and northeast England as well as Scotland. The best of the weather reserved for western Scotland and Ireland. Top temperatures struggling above 0C in parts of the Midlands, nearer 7C in the far southwest of Cornwall.
Friday
Much lighter winds on Friday as milder air makes an attempt to move back in from the Atlantic. Overall it is likely to be a murky day with some spots of drizzle. As the milder air tries to move in there could be some mist and fog patches forming, and these are likely to become dense in places. Heavier rain reaches western Ireland by the evening. Temperatures at 2 or 3C in Scotland and northern England, nearer 10C in southwest England.
