A brighter day Rain on Monday seiten=4 abk=focus

Sunday
For much of the country it is going to be a better start to the day than we have experienced recently. A ridge of high pressure is bringing more settled weather conditions across most of England, Wales and eastern Scotland, with some good sunny spells and mainly dry weather here. Little change is expected in these areas in the afternoon, with the sunshine continuing for many of us.
However, over southwest England we might find the sunshine turning more hazy as cloud thickens this afternoon, bringing a few showers here and there by evening.
For western Scotland and western Ireland there will continue to be some showers, although these not as frequent as on recent days, and still with some sleet or snow on the hills. Rather windy too across Scotland, but lighter winds elsewhere.
Highs around 4 to 7C and feeling cool in the wind.

Sunday Night
An area of rain crosses far southern counties of English this evening, most light but perhaps some moderate bursts affecting Channel coasts, and some heavy rain in the Channel Islands. Over central and northern England, Wales and eastern Scotland the evening should be dry with some clear spells. However, winds are going to be picking up here as more rain arrives from the west through the early hours. Some of the rain heavy as it passes eastwards through Ireland and western Scotland, turning to snow over the Highlands. Rain also reaching west Wales and northwest England by the morning. Lows near -2C over parts of the northern Midlands and northern England, but 4C in southwest England.

Monday
Areas of rain and showers pass eastwards through the UK and Ireland on Monday. The rain will be heaviest in the west, although it will always be showery in nature. The afternoon should become brighter through Ireland, Wales and southwest England, as most of the persistent rain clears eastwards. There will still be some showers around though, and again these could be heavy. Highs near 2C in central Scotland, 8C over southern England.

Tuesday
A wet day to come over many areas as an area of low pressure moves into western Scotland. This will bring a period of heavy rain through Ireland early in the morning, then into Scotland, northern England, Wales and western England by mid-morning. The rain could be heavy enough to produce some localised flooding and will be falling as heavy snow over the Highlands of Scotland. By the afternoon the more persistent rain is through the Midlands and eastern England, although there will be heavy showers and rain crossing Ireland, western England, Scotland and Wales, these showers turning increasingly wintry. Temperatures at 10C in southern England, 5C in Northern Ireland.
