Rain in the south Drier to the north seiten=4 abk=focus

Friday
A cloudy and damp start to the day over much of southern England. We are uncertain about how far north the rain is going to progress, but at the moment, most is likely through the southeast. The rain continues over southeast England and East Anglia in the afternoon and there could be a few heavier bursts in there as well. There could be some lighter rain through the Midlands and parts of eastern Wales too. For much of northern England, Scotland and Ireland the day will be dry; some fog patches in the morning, these slow to clear and some good spells of sunshine too. Little change for the afternoon with some more sunny spells. Thicker cloud over northern Scotland and the north and west coasts of Ireland, bringing a few showers. Highs around a cool 3 or 4C in central Scotland, as warm as 9C in the far southeast of England.

Friday Night
There is a threat of some heavier bursts of rain through much of the southern and eastern Midlands, as well as East Anglia and southern England through this evening. This continuing after midnight in East Anglia and southeast England, but for much of the Midlands it becomes dry. Wales and northern England as well as most of Scotland and Ireland will be dry with clearer skies. A few showers on northern coasts of Scotland and the western coasts of Scotland. It will be a chilly night over much of the country, lows of -5C in central Scotland, nearer 4C in southeast England.

Saturday
It is still likely to be raining over eastern Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex as well as Kent on Saturday morning, and a risk of that rain turning to sleet and snow for a while. Drier, brighter weather affects most of the rest of England, Wales and Scotland with some good sunny spells. A sharp frost too over northern Britain, with some fog patches as well. Increasing cloud over Ireland makes the sunshine hazy, with rain reaching from southern Ireland to the Scilly Isles by midday. The rain slowly moves eastwards in the afternoon to be through southwest England, southwest Wales and Ireland by the evening, with the winds increasing. The rest of England and Scotland stay dry with sunny spells, the best in the east. A chilly day for many with highs at at 4 or 5C, milder through southern Ireland at 11C.

Sunday
A cloudy, wet and windy day to come on Sunday as low pressure moves back into the west of the UK. This will bring a cloudy morning with periods of rain. The rain heavy at times over Ireland, western Scotland, western England and Wales. More snow to come over the Scottish Highlands. Little change in the afternoon with many areas damp and windy with periods of rain, most in the west. The far southeast of England may be a little drier, although still cloudy. Temperatures at 9 or 10C.
