Wednesday
An area of moderate rain across southern Scotland and northern parts of England this morning will die out this afternoon as it brightens and dries up. A few heavy showers are expected across Wales, south west England and the far south of England. Elsewhere it's mainly dry and bright. For the afternoon most places are looking dry with varying cloud an sunnier spells though a few showers may affect south east England and eastern coasts of Scotland. A colder day to come today with highs of 3 to 5 in the north and 5 to 9C in the south.

Wednesday Night
Fine and dry across much of the United Kingdom with clear spells but later cloud thickens in the west to bring rain to Northern Ireland and western parts of Cornwall. Overnight the rain becomes heavier as it spreads into the western half of Britain and as it hits the cold air there is a risk of heavy snow across northern Scotland. Eastern areas will be dry but will become cloudy. Lows of 0 to -5C for Scotland, o to 5C for England and Wales but 8C across south west England.

Thursday
A windy day with gales across much of the country. A wet morning too with outbreaks of rain for all areas which will be heavy across Scotland. The rain persists across Britain as another pulse of heavy rain sweeps in western areas which may lead to local flooding. Gusts to 70 mph may affect southern coasts of England. The rain clears from western areas in the evening then from all parts overnight. Before morning more rain reaches Cornwall. Highs of 6 to 13C north to south.

Friday
Apart from a few snow showers for northern Scotland it's a dry but rather cloudy day. Very wet this morning for the rest of the United Kingdom with the heaviest rain to be found across southern England and Northern Ireland. The rain persists into the evening then turns light and patchy overnight with snow showers to affect northern parts of Scotland. Mild again today with highs of 5 to 13C north to south.
