Friday
Not a pleasent morning to come across many parts of the country. Gale force winds and rain will be sweeping eastwards, and this rain is going to be heavy at times through Ireland, Wales, western England and southwest Scotland. Hill and coastal fog will be extensive in the west, and the winds will be gustting in excess of 60mph. The rain eventually arrives in northeastEngland and eastern Scotland after breakfast time with widespread gales then affecting most of the country. The afternoon sees the more persistent rain into Scotland, northern England and continuing across western Wales. Elsewhere it will still be cloudy, but the rain turning more drizzly. Extensive hill and coastal fog and those winds bringing widespread gales. Gusts could reach as high as 70 or even 80mph in the evening over the Scottish Highlands and Grampians, 60mph for England and Wales. It will be a mild day with temperatures to between 9 and 14C.
Friday Night
A band of rain returns south through northern England and Wales in the evening, this becoming stuck over Wales, central and southern England for much of the night. There will be widespread gales at first, but these should blow themselves out towards Saturday morning. For Scotland and Northern ireland there will be some heavy showers in the north and west, these turning wintry over the hills. To the east and south of Scotland it should become drier, with some clearer spells coming through. A touch of frost through central Scotland at 0C, but staying very mild in the south at 10C.
Saturday
Cloud and rain over southern Ireland, Wales and southern England this morning, this edging its way slowly northwards. The rain could be moderate or heavy at times over the hills of Wales and the Midlands, turning more drizzly over southern coasts of England. Once again fog will be extensive on western and southern coasts. Drier over northern England and Northern Ireland, but rather cloudy here. Showers or longer spells of rain in the far north of Scotland, but generally drier for the rest of Scotland with a few bright spells in the east. Still windy through Scotland with a risk of gales, lighter winds elsewhere. Highs around 5 to 7C in the northern half of the country, milder to the south with tops of 14C in southwest England.
Sunday
That band of rain hanging around through Sunday. It will be lying through southern Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and into East Anglia, perhaps nudging north towards northern England. To the south of the rainband will be mild conditions, and it is likely to become breezy. To the north irt will be much cooler. Quite cloudy over northern England, but mainly dry, whilst through Scotland there will be showers to the north and west.A sharp temperature contrast over northern England, highs at 7C in Leeds, 12C in Birmingham
