Wednesday
A grey, misty and damp morning across Britain with sporadic outbreaks of rain and drizzle across England and Wales though this will be heavier across western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Not much change is expected into the afternoon with all parts overcast and misty with a belt of heavier, steady rain across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. To the south the rain and drizzle will be lighter and very patchy across southern England with some places dry. Very mild highs of 10 to 13C for much of the UK.
Wednesday Night
The rain pushes south and lies across northern England, The Midlands, Wales and south west England this evening then slips into south and south east England overnight. As it does so it turns colder in the north with snow showers developing across northern Scotland and a frost in sheltered northern glens. A mild night in the south with lows of 7 to 11C but 2 to 3C for Scotland.
Thursday
Moderate rain across East Anglia and the south east of England will be slowly clearing through the morning but not clearing Kent until the afternoon. Much colder behind the front with varying cloud, a few sunny spills and scattered showers, these wintry over the hills of Scotland and perhaps the Pennines too. Cloud thickens to bring rain into Northern Ireland in the evening and this turns heavy spilling into all of Scotland, north west England and Wales overnight. Strong gales with potentially damaging winds as high as 90-95 mph are possible across northern Scotland. Expect highs of 3 to 9C.
Friday
Strong gales will affect the northern half of Britain this morning with the severe winds across northern Scotland slowly coming down by the afternoon. Essentially dry in the extreme south of England today albeit cloudy. Elsewhere it's a cloudy, wet day to come with rain. The rain will always be heavies across Scotland, Northern Ireland and north west England but much lighter further south. Expect highs of 8 to 10C.
