Fine across England, Wales Rain in the north, mild for most seiten=4 abk=focus

Monday
After a cold start with patchy frost and fog across Wales, central and southern England, this will soon go otherwise a fine, mostly sunny morning to come. Dry too for northern England with more cloud coming through at times. Rain is expected for northern Scotland and Northern Ireland with a few heavier bursts in the north west. In the afternoon the rain drifts into all of Scotland and becomes more steady across western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Otherwise little change with England and Wales dry with the best of the sunshine towards the south as cloud thickens up across north west England. The unseasonably mild weather continues with highs of 8 to 12C north to south.

Monday Night
Increasingly windy across the northern half of Britain with a cold front moving south. Outbreaks of rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland and this will be locally heavy, will move into north west England this evening and then into all of northern England and Wales during the night. As it clears northern Scotland it becomes colder with snow showers over the hills. To the south of this rain area it stays fine and dry with well broken cloud and a few mist patches in the far south of England. Lows generally down to 5 to 8C for most.

Tuesday
This morning a belt of moderate to heavy rain will lie across northern England into the West Midlands, Wales and south west England. To the south it remains dry and bright with increasing cloud. A lot of cloud across Scotland and Northern Ireland with coastal showers in the west and snow showers for the Scottish hills. In the afternoon the rain becomes lighter as it pushes into southern England. A lot of dry weather then to the north but more showers to come for Scotland and again these wintry above 300 metres. We may see the rain band in the south pep up and drift back north and as colder air moves south, we could see this changing to snow over the hills of northern England and Wales but confidence is low on this as of now. Expect highs of 3 to 7C in the north 8 to 12C for the south.

Wednesday
Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will be clearing much of England and Wales this morning as it turns dry and sunny from the west. Perhaps the rain won't clear Kent until early afternoon. Snow showers will affect northern Scotland, extending down to low levels with rain showers to be found around western coasts while more persistent rain moves into Northern Ireland. In the evening and night rain, perhaps preceded by hill snow, spreads into much of England and Wales while Scotland may see a spell of heavy snow. Again best to check back as there remains some uncertainty with the forecast today. Expect highs of 2 to 5C but up to 8C in the far south.
