Rain, heavy at times Dry to south & north seiten=4 abk=focus
Tuesday
A cold front is going to be making slow progress southeastwards through the country during today. Rain associated with the front will be falling across much of southern and eastern Scotland, northern England, Ireland and Wales this morning. That rain coiuld be heavy at times, especially over Ireland, the southern Uplands, northern Pennines and Lake District. For the rest of England the morning should be dry, although rather cloud and there will be some bright spells in the far southeast. Drier in northern and western Scotland, although the risk of a shower, and certainly feeling much colder.
This afternoon sees the rain edge steadily southeastwards bringing a wet day across northern England and Wales, where agasin some heavier bursts of rain are likely. The rain reaches the Midlands and southwest England by this evening, whilst the southeast stays dry. Over central Scotland the rain is going to be turning to snow, and it may turn to snow too across the Pennines and Welsh Mountains. Showers for western Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 11C for the far south of England.
Tuesday Night
The band of rain slips through the Midlands, East Anglia and southwest England this evening and eventually reaches the far southeast. There will be an increasing tendency for this to turn to snow over the higher ground as it slips south, and then we need to watch for the risk of it turning to snow at lower levels by the morning over southern counties as it clears through. Much clearer, colder skies follow from the north, although there will be showers over western Ireland and the north and west of Scotland. A chilly night for many with a widespread frost and lows of 0C, but holding to 2C on western coasts where the west wind will be picking up later.
Wednesday
A bright and cold start to the day across much of England and Wales. There will be some good spells of sunshine coming through, although the risk of some early sleet and snow still lingering over Kent. It will be snow too over the Scottish Highlands , with heavy showers to lower levels in western and northern Scotland, as well as western Ireland. The afternoon sees the winds increasing, bringing gales to Scotland, Ireland, and then northern England by evening. Rain will be blown in by the wind across Scotland and Ireland, with a chance of some patchy drizzle on western coasts of England and Wales. Dry elsewhere, although becoming breezy. Highs at 5 or 6C for many of us, and feeling cold in the wind, nearer 9C in western Ireland by the end of the day.

The afternoon sees further heavy spells of rain and gales through much of southern Ireland, south Wales and southern England. Showers, turning increasingly wintry follow through Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. Hghs around 9C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland.
