Showers and strong winds A better day on Wednesday seiten=4 abk=focus
Tuesday
Rain and strong winds early this morning across Northern Ireland, the north of northern England and southern Scotland, as well as through East Anglia and southeast England. Some of this may be heavy very early on, but most will clear into the North Sea. It will then be a windy morning with frequent, blustery showers rattling in from the west, sometimes merging to longer spells of rain. A risk of hail and thunder too. The rain extends north through southern and central Scotland, where it will be less windy, although becoming drier in the extreme south later. This afternoon sees the rain clearing from eastern Scotland, and then most of the country dry. However, a different story for Wales, England and Ireland where the frequent, heavy showers continue, perhaps merging to longer periods of rain, especially through southern Wales and southern England. Here again, hail and thunder are likely. Least of the showers over the Midlands and northeast England. Temperatures at 10 to 12C.
Tuesday Night
Some hefty showers still around through this evening and at first tonight. Most of the showers affecting Ireland, Scotland, Wales and northern England where the winds are going to be picking up once again. The showers may be thundery in places, although by the morning they should begin to fade. Elsewhere staying breezy with one or two showers, but these also easing towards the morning, and the winds falling lighter by then. Lows around 0C in central Scotland and Northern Ireland, more typically 2 to 3C. watch out for some icy patches on the roads away from eastern areas by morning.
Wednesday
A much brighter start to Wednesday as a ridge if high pressure builds from the west. There could be a few showers down eastern coasts, but these are going to be clearing away, and then the morning should be fair and dry for most with plenty of sunshine. The afternoon should be staying fair too with more sunshine, the best of this in eastern Scotland and eastern England. To the west cloud will be increasing, making the sunshine more hazy and bringing some rain through Ireland and into southwest Wales and southwest England by evening. High temperatures at 6 to 8C for most of the country, 11C in southwest England.
Thursday
Rain passing through all places overnight into Thursday. The day will be a wet one over much of Ireland and Scotland, some heavy bursts of rain at times here. For England and Wales it will be a dull start with some drizzle, and the risk of some fog on western coasts. However, inland areas are likely to become drier and brighter through the day with sunny spells coming through. It will be mild everywhere at 12C, but where the sun comes through we could sees highs of 14C.
