Monday
An area of rain will move into Northern Ireland and western Scotland this morning with some snow over the Highlands. This then moves into all of Scotland, north west England and Wales in the afternoon. The rain will be locally heavy at times. Central, eastern and southern parts of England will be dry with a sunny morning with a frost before it clouds over in the afternoon. Gales are expected to develop across western areas with gusts in excess of 60 mph developing. Top temperatures of 6 to 11C north to south.
Monday Night
A wet and windy evening with outbreaks of locally heavy rain for many areas. Gales are expected as well. During the night it becomes dry across northern England, Wales and south west England with further rain for south east England and Scotland. Across north west Scotland severe gales will be developing. Expect lows of 4 to 10C.
Tuesday
Severe gales are expected across Scotland through the day with gusts to 80 mph possible in the west. Rain is expected to persist across Scotland and Northern Ireland today and this will push into north west England through the afternoon. After any early residual rain clears Kent, the rest of England and Wales Away from these areas it looks essentially dry but with a lot of cloud and sunnier spells. Gales will continue across the northern half of the country into the evening and night as the rain clears to showers across Scotland. Expect highs of 5 to 11C north to south.
Wednesday
Apart from scattered showers across western Scotland, high pressure should give much of Britain a dry morning with occasional cloud and sunnier spells. Still a few showers to come for Scotland and later this afternoon thicker cloud may bring some rain into Cornwall. Elsewhere it will remain fair and dry with a few sunny intervals. Rain in the south west this evening is expected to spread into Wales, all of southern England, the Midlands and East Anglia overnight. More persistent rain also pushes south into Scotland. Expect highs of 7 to 11C.
