Severe gales for Scotland Rain north, dry south seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
Very windy this morning and through the afternoon as well especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England with gales and gusts to 70 mph developing across western Scotland. Here expect spells of persistent rain which will be heavy at times across Scotland. For the rest of England and Wales it's a drier weather picture with varying amounts of cloud and a dew showers around western coasts. Best of the sunshine should be across south east England. Feeling cold in the gusty winds with top temperatures of 5 to 10C north to south.

Tuesday Night
Still windy in the north though the gales will subside. Expect rain to linger across Scotland and Northern Ireland in the evening but this will turn more to showers overnight with wintry ones over the Highlands and eastern Scotland turning dry and clear. Some patchy rain may affect northern England tonight otherwise it's a dry night with clear spells and patchy frost expected to develop with lows of 0 to 4C but up to 8C across south west England.

Wednesday
Apart from scattered showers across western Scotland, high pressure should give much of Britain a dry morning with occasional cloud and sunnier spells. Still a few showers to come for Scotland for the afternoon. But for the bulk of the United Kingdom it will remain fair and dry with sunny intervals and variable cloudiness. Rain in the north west of Scotland this evening is expected to spread into parts of Northern Ireland overnight. Dry across England and Wales with a risk of a frost where skies remain mostly clear. Expect highs of 5 to 11C.

Thursday
Persistent and heavy rain is forecast for northern Scotland and Northern Ireland this morning which is forecast to spill into Wales and western parts of England during the course of the afternoon. Fro central and eastern England it stays dry with morning sunshine giving way to more cloud as we go through the afternoon. A heavy spells of rain then to come for central and southern England in the evening which clears south east England in the early hours. Showers and rain will then move back into northern Scotland with snow over the Highlands. Expect highs of 5 to 10C.
