Thursday
Cloudy across central and southern parts of England this morning with some rain and drizzle in the far south,. Some heavy bursts are likely closer to channel coasts. Breezy across northern Scotland with outbreaks of rain. In between these two areas it's dry and brighter with sunny spells and a frosty start with patchy mist. In the afternoon the rain will gradually clear away into the channel and the rain across northern Scotland will turn more showery. For the rest of the United Kingdom it stays fine and dry with good spells of sunshine. Expect maximum temperatures of 7 to 11C north to south.
Thursday Night
Still a few showers to come this evening for western Scotland otherwise it's dry and chilly with mostly clear skies across Britain. Overnight rain will move into of Northern Ireland and in across northern Scotland. For the rest of the United Kingdom it will be dry with clear spells leading to a frost. Expect minimums of -1 to 5C but 6C across south west England, Northern Ireland and northern England
Friday
Persistent and heavy rain is forecast to sweep into all but East Anglia, the East Midlands and south east England this morning as the winds strengthen in the west. A wet and windy afternoon then for all areas as the rain becomes heavier spreading into south east England. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph will affect exposed western coasts. Windy with light rain this evening then expect further gales with rain confined to the north with snow over the Highlands. Further gales will affect all parts tonight with severe gales and gusts perhaps to 70-80 mph across Scotland and then north east England. Expect highs of 7 to 10C.
Saturday
Continued windy with strong gales across Scotland and eastern England which only slowly moderate through the day. Apart from some heavy snow showers across northern Scotland, it's a dry, mostly sunny morning. In the afternoon outbreaks of rain are expected to spread into Northern Ireland and the far west of Britain. Central and eastern areas remain dry with sunny spells. In the evening we'll see rain spreading into all parts and will persist overnight with a risk of some sleet and snow across the hills of northern Scotland for a time. Expect highs of 5 to 11C north to south.
