Monday
A stormy start to the working week over all parts of the country as a deep area of low pressure crosses Northern Ireland and then northern England during the day. Heavy rain will be affecting eastern parts of England, and the central and northern parts of Scotland. A brief drier interlude follows before more rain returns to Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. The main feature of the weather through will be the winds. Gusts to 60mph are expected to be widespread, with these then reaching a damaging 80mph over parts of southern Ireland, south Wales and southwest England. In the afternoon the strongest winds transfer through south Wales and southern England again with gusts to 80mph possible. There will be rain and heavy showers passing east through all areas, these turning thundery at times with a risk of hail. Staying wet for northern Scotland throughout, with some showers in southern Scotland. Winds will probably become lighter in northern England and southern after an initial spell of morning gales. Temperatures will be academic, rising to between 6 and 9C.

Monday Night
More gales across much of England and Wales, with storm force winds over southern England in the England. Rain will be clearing eastwards with the strongest of the winds, being followed by showers. The showers are likely to be heavy at times and may be wintry on the hills of Scotland and northern England. By the end of the night cloud will be increasing again from the west, with rain into western Ireland and southwest England. A frost forming in northern England and Scotland with lows of 1C, but nearer 5C where it stays windier in southern England.

Tuesday
Rain sweeps eastwards today, with yet more strong winds affecting the whole of the country. Rain could be heavy at times through the morning, probably clearing eastern coasts early in the afternoon. Following will be blustery showers and these will be heavy and frequent at times. The showers could merge to more persistent periods of rain over Scotland and Ireland towards the evening. Winds are going to be picking up to be strong and from the west, possibly gale force in the morning in the south. Then a band of stronger winds move through Northern Ireland, Wales, northern England and southern Scotland with gusts to 60mph. Highs near 6C in northern Scotland, 10C over the far south of England.

Wednesday
Another windy and disturbed day. The winds could be to gale force over much of the country, with the focus for the strongest winds through Scotland and northern England. Periods of rain and showers for much of the day, some of them heavy at times and turning to sleet and snow over high ground. The showers should fade away through Ireland, Wales and southwest England later, although it will be staying windy. Top temperatures at 3 to 9C.
