Tuesday
Yet another spell of rain and strong winds will be sweeping eastwards through the country today. The rain through Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northwest England and most of the Midlands and southeast England this morning. Turning brighter over Wales and southwest England, but some blustery showers coming through here. For Scotland it will be rather cloudy through this morning with some showers, but longer periods of rain affecting the northwest. Into this afternoon rain extends through much of Scotland, northern England and East Anglia. Heavy showers for the rest of England, Wales and Wales. It will be another windy afternoon with gale force westerly winds gusting to 50 or 60mph on western coasts. Highs at 6 to 11C.
Tuesday Night
A period of exceptionally strong winds could affect much of Ireland, the far south of Scotland and northern England tonight with gusts to 70 or 80mph here. It will be a windy night elsewhere, apart from northern Scotland, with gusts to 50mph in parts. Blustery showers will be blowing in from the west, and these area going to be merging into longer spells of rain, especially on western coasts. Expect thunderstorms and hail too. The showers turning to snow over higher ground and perhaps even to lower levels in the heavier showers. Blizzards developing over the Scottish Hills. Temperatures down to 1C in some places.
Wednesday
Gales for most of the UK, with the strongest of the winds still through northern England where gusts to 70mph are possible. There will be more rain to come in the morning for Scotland and northeast England with blizzards over the Grampians. Brighter weather moving through Ireland and into Wales and western England. The afternoon sees this brighter weather affecting all parts, although it will still be very windy. Showers are likely to continue in western Scotland and Ireland. Temperatures rising to between 7 and 8C but feeling much colder in the wind.
Thursday
Showers for the north and west of Scotland, some of them heavy at times. eastern Scotland should be mainly dry, save a few isolated showers. Northern England and much of Ireland have some scattered showers and sunny spells, although heavier showers over the northern coasts of Ireland. Brighter and drier weather for central and southern England as well as Wales. Thickening cloud over southwest England bringing periods of rain later. Temperatures at 5 to 10C.
