Wednesday
Severe weather conditions will be affecting Wales, Northern Ireland, northern Ireland and south west Scotland with severe gales giving gusts up to 80 mph near exposed coasts. Heavy snow is also expected over the highest ground of northern England and southern Scotland. Windy across the rest of England with rain though it looks dry and bright in the far south except for a few showers for south west England. Less windy but wet with rain for northern Scotland but snow over the Highlands. We'll only see a slow and gradual moderation in the winds this afternoon with gales persisting across England and Wales. Central and eastern parts of Scotland and England should be mainly dry in the afternoon with some sunshine. In the west expect more cloud and showers, a few heavy, falling as snow over the high ground of northern Scotland. Expect highs of 5 to 7C in the north and 8 to 10C in the south.

Wednesday Night
The winds will be moderating further through the course of the evening and night. A number of showers will persist across Northern Ireland and western arts of Scotland, Wales and England with a few heavy ones this evening. Dry with well broken cloud in the east. Overnight any showers will become confined to western Scotland with a few wintry ones over the Highlands. Dry for the rest of Britain with clear spells. A cold night but still too much wind for a frost with lows at 1 to 4C in the north but 7C in the far south.

Thursday
A breezy but no where as windy day to come today. Outbreaks of rain are expected to sweep in across all but north east Scotland and the extreme east of England during the morning with heavier bursts in the west. Showers are forecast for Northern Ireland and Scotland in the afternoon with rain for England and Wales. By the end of the afternoon this will have cleared all but Wales and the extreme southern counties of England. Moderate to heavy rain across the far south of England is expected to spread into Wales and central England tonight with the north dry with a frost. Lows of -1 to 1C in the north, 4 to 7C in the south.

Friday
A very wet morning across Northern Ireland, England and Wales with spells of locally heavy rain. A dry morning with bright spells for Scotland after a frosty start. The rain clears the extreme south of England this afternoon otherwise little change to come with a dry afternoon expected for Scotland. Quite mild in the south. Much of the country looks overcast and wet for tonight with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times in the west. Expect highs of 5 to 8C across Scotland, 9 to 13C for England and Wales.
